The county and municipal elections will take place on April 13th.
I am Anniina Koutonen, a 27-year-old psychologist from Oulu, working in student welfare at the secondary education level. I am running in the municipal elections in Oulu and the county elections in Northern Ostrobothnia because I want to promote the consideration of mental health in political decision-making. My core values are equality, justice, and ecological sustainability.
In the county elections, my key themes are the well-being of children and young people, ensuring access to public healthcare and emergency services across Northern Ostrobothnia, and improving working conditions for social and healthcare professionals. We must pay special attention to the accessibility of services for those in vulnerable positions, such as the elderly and residents of remote areas. Additionally, the organization of services must better consider the specific needs of people with disabilities, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
In the municipal elections, the main goal of my campaign is to ensure a holistic approach to well-being in decision-making. At the municipal level, it is essential to advance carbon neutrality and preserve biodiversity, as the ecological crisis is also a threat to health and well-being.
Let’s build a more equal Northern Ostrobothnia and a more sustainable Oulu together – for all, not for the few!
